LIN Media’s WOOD-TV (Channel 8 ) in Grand Rapids will launch a 4:30 A.M. newscast on Monday, April 30. The announcement comes a few days after market rival WWMT started a 4:30 A.M. newscast on April 23.
Beginning Monday, April 30, 24 Hour News 8 Daybreak will begin at 4:30 a.m.
“We’re responding to changes in viewers’ habits being seen all over the country. 24 Hour News 8 Daybreak is West Michigan’s #1 morning show,” said WOOD TV8 News Director Rebecca Sapakie. “Our entire team will be here ready to go at 4:30 a.m. We’re committed to making sure our viewers are prepared for the day with the latest overnight news, big stories still ahead and the Storm Team 8 forecast.”
Anne Schieber has left WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids for a job at the Mackinac Center for Public Policy.
Marlee Ginter is the new co-anchor of WOOD-TV’s weekday 10 p.m. newscast. She will anchor the newscast with Brian Sterling. The 10 p.m. newscast airs on WOOD-TV sister-station WXSP.
LIN Media and Mediacom reached a retransmission consent agreement. WOOD-TV and WOTV are now available on Mediacom cable systems in West Michigan.
Suzanne Geha received a standing ovation after introducing Anne Doyle at Grand Valley State University’s Eberhardt Center. This is Geha’s first public appearance 
Jordan Carson has joined LIN Media’s WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids as a full-time staff member. Carson was the 2009 winner of the “Face of 4″ contest on WOTV.
Reporter Dee Morrison is leaving LIN Media’s WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids to become a stay-at-home mom.
